NYX is the latest model from the Hera/Artemis boys. This new ship is designed for high performance from the start with the HN 354 SR airfoil. 8.05% thick and 1.64 % camber. Light 1900g versions will be great for thermal duration with a bit of camber added.  New aggressive wing shape that has amazing handling qualities.

A message from the Czech mfg:

NYX is our new top thermal duration model for F3B and F3J contest pilots. It represents latest technological know how which stands far beyond standard racing sailplanes. NYX is result of our long term cooperation with top pilots as well as top professionals from aviation research. The NYX has been designed under computer optimization and first results of our testing confirm superb performance. Theoretical design plays very important role but crucial is CAM/CAD precision manufacturing.

We have made significant investment (more than USD 40.000) to CNC cutter, CNC controller and software which enables us to gain competitive advantage against other producers.

The NYX works! Good pull on launch, great legs, landing is silky smooth. The NYX shows exceptional handling and a wing that is very efficient. I have the D tube version now and I know it will make a great performance TD ship for those that want the extra search capability of the HN section. The model comes pre wired with a auto plug in db9 and the wires ran to the pre molded servo boxes. The NYX also includes a ballast tube and ballast bar of 17 oz for the TD version. The F3B versions supplied with 32oz steel slugs and wood spacers. The future of RC Soaring is here now.

NYX contest record:

  • 5th & 8th at Visalia 2001(NYX Debut) TD
  • 7th at SWC 2002 TD
  • 2nd at SC2 at HSS TD
  • 2nd and 4th at SCSR F3F Race.
  • 2nd & 4th at ASRO F3F Viking Race USA team selections.
  • Patrick Dionisio gets LSF 8 hour slope w/NYX.
  • 4 of the top 11 models at Visalia 2002 were NYX!
  • Never mind.. Too many to list.

The NYX comes in different lay up options:

LT: Glass/balsa/glass skin w/Kevlar & carbon fuse. 1950g (similar to the Artemis LT +) Special order.

F3J: Kevlar/carbon "D" tube & Kevlar/carbon fuse, ballast tube. 2050g (I order more of these than any other.)

F3B/F3F: All carbon skin, Kevlar/carbon fuse, large ballast tube. 2300g. Special order

All F3X NYX models are ordered with the complete wire harness factory installed including a auto hook up db9, Just bolt the wing on and you are powered up! F3X NYX will also include the ballast kit that includes the 17oz (TD/F3J) ballast and factory installation of the tube. The F3B models will come with larger ballast capacity.

Note: About a year ago they had a mold break on the right tip lower surface of the NYX. It has been repaired but since then all models have a little line from the servo box to the LE. It looks like a crack but is only in the paint.

Add a little camber in with the flaps (rev crow) this will give the NYX the float you need to drag it into the spot.
Measurements are in inches. Wing measurements are taken from the poly break at the TE.
For neutral elevator: Set the fuse on 2ea 1.0 in thick blocks, 1 under the nose and 1 under the tail at the lowest point of the fuse (the part that would touch the table first if the tow hook was removed.) Measure up from the bench to the seam line of the stab at the root. LE 3.69"   TE 3.34" Yours might be different but the difference is the important number. .35 is what I got. This is neutral elevator. The control throws for the stab are from the TE.
